Got your rod? Tackle? Lures and bait? Sunscreen? Hat? Beer? (That’s for the parents–Root Beer for the kiddos.) All righty, let’s go fishing!
It’s a gorgeous weekend and the fish are biting.
(The fish are biting because I SAID SO! Fishies, you hear me??)
Fishing with the kids is a great weekend activity. There is nothing like the thrill of catching a fish and kids will burst with pride and sense of accomplishment when they reel in that wiggly fish! Fishing can also teach children about the environment, wildlife conservation… and you know else? Fishing with the kids can give you a chance to bond and connect. Sitting out in nature waiting for fish to bite is prime chit-chat time. Not only that, fishing and spending time with kids creates great family memories. (Or funny stories when Dad falls in the lake!)
If you still need convincing or are having troubles getting Dad out fishing, tell him that children with active fathers are more likely to do better in school, get in less trouble with the law, and have better language development. Of course there are other benefits as well, but those facts are the ones off the top of my head.
Oh yes, and the kids? They get a bit of time in the great outdoors which is great for releasing stress and anxiety–and for parents too.
So what are you waiting for? Let’s go fishing!
Have a great weekend and play on!
P.S. Check your local area to make sure the fish you plan on catching are in season and whether you need a license or not.
